This study analyses the state of gun control Namibia. Apart from a legislative overview, it also collects information about crime and guns. While many violent crimes are conducted without guns, the proportion of crimes committed with guns is not insignificant. There is also the issue of guns being stolen or lost, which should be minimised to stop the criminal use of firearms.
In addition, the study analyses a sample of gun licence applications. Most applications are for pistols, with the most commonly stated reason being self-defence.
