After four months of consecutive improvement the Business Climate Monitor declined again in January, falling slightly to 49.3 points. The leading indicator improved, suggesting that the environment is somewhat moderating. There are some signs of concern however: copper, diamond and uranium prices are down, and exchange rate appreciation meant weaker commodity prices overall. Uranium prices especially remain a concern. ON the other hand, inflation slowed, while car sales and building plan approvals have increased.
