The Combating of Trafficking in Persons Bill

Author

Series

At the end of 2017, the National Assembly passed a bill with the aim of combating human trafficking. It formalised what was already a commitment we made by joining international treaties, and calls for the allocation of resources to help the victims of trafficking. There are no detailed statistics on human trafficking in Namibia, but there have been several cases, and there is a strong need for better structures to prevent the crime and aid victims. This edition of Perspectives on Parliament looks at human trafficking in the Namibian context and outlines the components of the bill.
