This morning, we launched the 2017 Open Budget Index, which looks at the degree to which governments around the world are transparent about their budgets and allow citizen participation.
Namibia scored 50 out of 100 points, and ranked 45th out of 115 countries – or second in southern Africa. The newly-introduced Mid-Year Budget statement improved our rating, while a lack of formal participation opportunities for the public continue to hurt.
